DONT PLANT YOUR BAD DAYS MIXTAPE
This was a project for an advanced typography class. We did a few iterations, and it changed drastically throughout the process. It was originally going to be a dad rock mixtape. Until I came across a quote by Tom Waits:
“Don’t plant your bad days. They grow into weeks. The weeks grow into months. Before you know it, you got yourself a bad year. Take it from me - choke those little bad days. Choke ‘em down to nothing.”
I decided to base the mixtape around this quote. It's still mostly 70's dad rock, but the vibe shifted. My first draft really leaned into plants as the overarching theme, but the feedback I got wasn't great. So I decided to go towards a 70's theme to match the music.
I used three different fonts throughout. and kept my colors really simple. I also wanted to include lyrics, I decided eventually to not include all the lyrics. It looked way too messy and crowded. So I chose some lyrics from each song I thought really represented the song.
I also created a social media campaign to promote the mixtape, which I included below.
